His visage was marred more than any man, and His form more than the sons of men. - Isaiah 52:14 Our Lord Jesus chose bread and wine as elements of the Lord's Supper. Because they are a visual reminder of what happened to him when he was crucified. Both grains and grapes have to go through a grinding process to get bread or wine. Just eating grapes doesn't make wine. The grapes must be crushed first and then thoroughly crushed. Then they are left in the dark for fermentation. This is what happened to our Lord Jesus. It is important for our health to discern the body of the Lord. Take time each time you partake of his bruised body while eating bread. Receive a revelation of what He has done for you and meditate on the process the bread had to go through. In Jesus' day, in order to obtain bread, the wheat stalks had to be beaten first (Judges 6:11 NASB) or threshed with a sledgehammer (Isaiah 41:15)...
