WHAT THE SAVIOR ENDURED : Daily Devotional

WHAT THE SAVIOR ENDURED : Daily Devotional

His visage was marred more than any man, and His form more than the sons of men. - Isaiah 52:14

Our Lord Jesus chose  bread and wine as  elements of the Lord's Supper. Because they are a visual reminder of what happened to him when he was crucified. Both grains and grapes have to go through a grinding process to get bread or wine.

Just eating grapes doesn't make wine. The grapes must be crushed first  and then thoroughly crushed. Then they are  left in the dark for fermentation. This is what happened to our Lord Jesus.

It is important for our health to discern the  body of the Lord. Take time each time you partake of his bruised body while eating bread. Receive a revelation of what He has done for you and meditate on the process the bread had to go through.

In Jesus' day, in order to obtain bread, the wheat stalks  had to be beaten first (Judges 6:11 NASB) or threshed with a sledgehammer (Isaiah 41:15). It was a violent process in which wheat was beaten, crushed and cut to separate the grain from the stalks. Then the grain had to be milled into a powder or mortared. Then it was necessary to pour water, knead the flour, put it in the dough, and roast it on the fire.

All this is a description of what happened to our Lord Jesus. To be the bread of life for you and me, He was severely beaten again and  again at the judgment and crucifixion. When he was judged by the high priest and the Sanhedrin, they mocked him, spit on him, and beat him. They blindfolded him and slapped him in the face (Luke 22:63-64; Mark 14:65). Then he was  sent to Pontius Pilate, who beat him badly with Roman soldiers (Mt. 27:26). He clothed her wounded body with a red robe, woven a crown of thorns, and placed it on her head. They worshiped and mocked with a staff in his right hand. They spit on him, raised their staff, and hit him on the head over and over again. With each blow a thorn lodged deeper and deeper into his flesh. “When we finally got tired of making fun of him” they led him to be crucified (Matt. 27:27-31 NLT).

All this was before His body was crucified. We can never fully imagine or comprehend the terrible torture, humiliating humiliation, and excruciating pain that the Savior endured for us. You and I suffered so that we would not fall ill. We are healed from the scourging He suffered! Hallelujah!

The Goodness of God - Daily Devotional

Verse: Psalm 100:5 (NIV) - "For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations." Devotional: Today, let us reflect on the profound truth that God is good. His goodness is not contingent on our circumstances, but it remains constant, unwavering, and eternal. In Psalm 100:5, we are reminded that the Lord's goodness is inseparable from His enduring love, and His faithfulness transcends generations. As you begin your day, consider the goodness of God in the light of your own life. Think about the moments when His goodness has been evident, whether through answered prayers, unexpected blessings, or moments of divine guidance. God's goodness surrounds us, and even in challenges, there is a purpose that unfolds through His love. In times of joy, acknowledge the goodness of God with gratitude. In times of trial, trust in His goodness, knowing that He works all things for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). Take a ...

With God All Things Are Possible - Daily Devotional

Bible Verse: Matthew 19:26 (NIV) - "Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'" In our journey of faith, we often encounter situations and challenges that seem insurmountable. We may face overwhelming circumstances, difficult decisions, or personal struggles that leave us feeling helpless and discouraged. However, as Christians, we are reminded of the powerful truth found in Matthew 19:26, where Jesus assures us that with God, all things are possible. This verse serves as a beautiful reminder that we are not alone in our trials. We serve a God who is mighty, capable, and faithful. His power knows no bounds, and He is able to do far more than we could ever imagine. It is easy for us to lose sight of this truth when we are faced with obstacles, but the Lord invites us to trust Him and lean on His strength. One of the ways we can apply this verse in our daily lives is by cultivating an attitude of surrender and d...

He Answers Prayer: Daily Devotional

“In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.” Psalm 18:6 (KJV) The God we serve is a God who answers prayers. He knows our needs before we even ask Him for help. He instituted prayer after the downfall of mankind to give us the opportunity to fellowship with Him. No wonder our Lord Jesus Christ said that at all times we ought to pray and not give up or lose heart (Luke 18:1).  The psalmist cried out to God in his distress, and God heard him and attended to his needs. Dear beloved, don’t wait till you get into trouble before you pray. Pray every day at least three times a day (Psalm 55:17). Prayer is fellowship with your heavenly Father; it is not always about asking God to meet your needs. Pray for your community and your nation so that the will of God will be established. Pray in faith based on the Word of God, and God will attend to you. Hallelujah! God bless you! ©️...
