THE SPIRIT AND THE WORD: Daily Devotional

THE SPIRIT AND THE WORD: Daily Devotional

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light (Genesis 1:2-3).

As you read the Psalms, you will find that David knew the value of words and taught his son Solomon the same. It was Solomon who said: "Death and life are in the power of the tongue..." (Proverbs 18:21). David, his father, taught him that. David knew that life and death were not in the sword's power; they are in the power of the tongue. And he showed it when he faced Goliath of Gat.

You need to understand how he defeated Goliath.

It's easy to imagine that he defeated Goliath with a smooth stone and a slingshot. But not; it was with words! Study the account in 1 Samuel 17. He was sure of defeating Goliath because of his trust in words.

He used the tools guided by the wisdom of God. He had the rock and the sling and the words came out of his mouth. He knew he hadn't killed Goliath with a rock; the Spirit of God was upon him, and the Spirit of God uses words.

Words release spiritual power. Without words, the mind will do nothing.

Reread our theme verse. The spirit was all over the world, but nothing changed. So the Bible says, "And God said..."; Suddenly the Spirit acted and everything God said happened! Hallelujah!

At the second coming of Jesus, the Bible says that he will strike the Antichrist "...with the breath of his mouth..." (2 Thessalonians 2:8), referring to the sword of the Spirit, which is the "Rhema" of God - words that come out of His mouth (Revelation 19:15, Ephesians 6:17).

When you speak the Word, you release the power of God to act on your behalf. So if you find yourself in a life crisis, don't back down. No panic. speak words! Speak to it and make a change.

Jesus said that whatever you say you will get (Mark 11:23). Remember, words are powerful, but God's Word is almighty. Glory be to His name forever!

What is the favor of God, and how can I get it? - Bible Teachings

The concept of the favor of God is found throughout the Bible, and it generally refers to God's kindness, grace, and blessings bestowed upon individuals. Here are some key teachings on the favor of God and how to attain it: 1. Seek God's Will: Proverbs 3:5-6 advises us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not rely on our understanding. When we seek and align ourselves with God's will, we are more likely to receive His favor. 2. Humility: The Bible often emphasizes the importance of humility. In James 4:6, it is said that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humility opens the way for God's favor in our lives. 3. Faith: Hebrews 11:6 teaches that without faith, it's impossible to please God. Trusting in God's promises and having faith in His goodness can attract His favor. 4. Obedience: God's favor is often linked to obedience to His commandments. Deuteronomy 28:1-2 states that if we diligently obey the voice of the Lord, H

His Plans Are Good - Daily Devotional

Verse: Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Devotional: Today, let us take comfort in the assurance that our heavenly Father has plans for us, plans that are filled with goodness and hope. It's easy to become anxious or uncertain about the future, but God's Word reminds us that His intentions for our lives are nothing short of remarkable. In Jeremiah 29:11, we discover a promise that speaks directly to our hearts. God is not a distant observer of our lives; He is intimately involved, and His plans for us are purposeful. Even when circumstances appear challenging, we can trust that God's intentions are for our ultimate well-being. In times of uncertainty, we often question what the future holds. However, God invites us to place our trust in Him, the One who knows the end from the beginning. As we do so, we can find peace in the know

Walking By Faith - Daily Devotional

Verse: "For we walk by faith, not by sight." - 2 Corinthians 5:7 (ESV) Devotional: As Christians, our journey is one of faith. We are called to walk by faith, not by what we see or understand with our natural senses. This can be both a challenging and a rewarding path. Walking by faith means trusting in God's promises even when circumstances seem uncertain or difficult. It means believing that God's plan is greater than our understanding. Imagine walking in a dense fog, unable to see more than a few steps ahead. In life, we often face situations where we can't see the road ahead clearly. It's during these moments that our faith is put to the test. But just as a person walking in the fog relies on each step they take, we can rely on God with every step we take in our faith journey. The Bible tells us that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). It's like having a confident assurance in God's promises e
